SPEAKER: Carlos Paternina, San Diego State University
ABSTRACT:
The future of sustainable logistics lies in harnessing cutting-edge technologies to solve complex environmental challenges. This talk introduces an ambitious project spearheaded by San Diego State University in collaboration with Wabtec Corporation for the Port of Los Angeles. The project focuses on developing a Geo-Spatial Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Portal and optimizing container route allocation using advanced Machine Learning (ML) and real-time data integration. By combining AI-driven predictive models and optimization frameworks, the project aims to provide actionable insights into reducing port-related emissions and enhancing operational efficiency. This initiative not only pushes the boundaries of AI and data analytics but also sets a benchmark for sustainable port operations. We will gain an insider perspective on how research can drive impactful, real-world solutions in transportation and logistics.
