Who Should Apply to the PhD Program?
Applicants with a baccalaureate degree in one of the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields are encouraged to apply. A strong background in mathematics, statistics, and programming in a language such as C or Fortran is helpful. Applicants will be considered on the basis of their prior academic record and demonstrated potential for creative research and teaching. Students who are passionate about scientific problem solving, discovery, and making an impact are excellent candidates for this program.
Financial assistance is available to full-time students accepted into the doctoral degree program. These opportunities include teaching assistantships, graduate and research assistantships, and research fellowships.
