ABSTRACT:

Supercomputers are capable of performing 1016 floating-point operations per second. This massive supercomputer capability is the cause and the effect of the modern science and technology.

We will discuss how we achieve such speeds by discussing the latest interconnection network and processor technologies and the latest approaches in analyzing and designing them. Conversely, we will discuss several computational sciences projects, enabled by supercomputing, including study of blood flow through an artificial heart by particle method and analysis of a large protein by molecular dynamics.
