ABSTRACT:

Dramatic increases in computer power and continuous advances in
measurement technologies have stimulated the development and use of
increasingly complex computer models to characterize as closely and
consistently as possible the behavior of functioning of real-world
systems. In this talk, I will discuss some of our recent
methodologies to help calibrate, evaluate, and test models of complex
systems. These methods are illustrated with case studies from a
variety of different scientific disciplines including the fields of
ecology, hydrology, geophysics and hydrogeology.
