ABSTRACT:
Metagenomics has revolutionized microbiology, allowing researchers to explore microbial communities in great depth. However, computation typically takes days to weeks. New tools and approaches move us towards real time computing, opening the door for a different mode of biological analysis: researchers can manipulate environments and use genomics to see what changes occur. In this talk I will discuss some real time applications, and our work on developing a tricorder for biological sequence analysis
