ABSTRACT:
The High Performance Computing for Energy Innovation (HPC4EI)program is funded by the DOE Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewables, Advanced Manufacturing Office and the Fossil Energy Office to utilize the world-class DOE capabilities in high performance computing to help industry improve its manufacturing processes, materials and systems designs to increase national energy efficiency. Over 50 US companies have engaged this program in over 100 projects. High performance computers enable increased accuracy of engineering and science simulations, provide for faster optimization and enhanced data analytics. Robin Miles, the HPC4EI Director and Dr. Aaron Fisher, the Project Manager and Principal Investigator on several projects aimed at increasing energy efficiency in the steel industry will discuss the program and the several projects featuring collaborations between industry and the national laboratories.
