In this minisymposium
we will be presenting the following

Sensitivity studies
with a new generalized costal coordinate
ocean model are performed in order
to compare the behavior of bottom
boundary layers when sigma coordinates
or z-level vertical grids are used.
But most other numerical aspects
remain unchanged. The Princeton
Ocean Model (POM) and the General
Curvilinear Ocean Model (GCOM) are
compared in the scope of an idealized
three-dimensional test case. GCOM
uses general curvilinear coordinate
in al l three directions, and it
can be used in a wider range of
problems. In this work, simulations
are performed for the seamount problem
using both models and results are
presented along with a discussion
of the results.
