Natural ants communicate with
each other and establish the most
suitable path between their nest
and food sources using
chemical signals called pheromones.
The Ant Colony Optimization Metaheuristic
or ACO is inspired by this behavior
and includes a set of bio-inspired
algorithms usually used to solve
combinatorial problems. This paper
proposes the use of ACO Metaheuristic
for the vehicle routing problem
in the downtown of Cucuta - Colombia.
The underlying idea is to suggest
to a person being transported in
a private vehicle route that minimizes
delays in travel time, based on
local traffic conditions, permitting
a supple ride through two geographic
locations in the downtown of the
city.
