Hospital infection is considered
a serious problem, growing both
in incidence and complexity, causing
many types of social and economic
implications. Its control must involve
every one who works in hospitals.
The solution is the strengthening
of Hospital Infection Control Commissions
(HICC). Based on these issues the
goal of this work is to show a mathematical
model of the risk that a person
to be infected in hospital and the
risk of death of a person who got
any hospital infection. To make
it happen we checked on IBGE and
AVISA research data, among others,
and we gave them a statistical treatment.
As theoretical tool we will use
the Survival Analysis Theory as
well as the statistical models discussed
in this theory. As a computational
tool, we use the R program, a free
software that provides an excellent
environment for statistical analysis
and high quality graphs.
