Professional Master's Programs

The Computational Science program offers a PSM (MS with Concentration in Professional Applications), which is project-based and business-oriented. This program is offered exclusively to companies to meet their specific needs, and currently is not offered on the main SDSU campus.

PSM Overview

The PSM degree has an interdisciplinary cast and is offered in collaboration with the Departments of Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Geological Sciences, Mathematics, and Physics. The degree's curriculum is driven by real-world problems and includes:

  • Visualization/Communication
  • Team Projects
  • Internships (required for the PSM)
  • Business Basics (required for the PSM)

The PSM, being business-based, leads to careers in management of technology in a wide variety of fields.

The PSM degree is offered in conjunction with the Sloan Foundation supported PSM programs around the country. The program was launched in response to industry requests for better-trained professionals with advanced degrees.
