ABSTRACT:
In this talk, we describe the transport and accumulation of biomolecules in
microarray-based DNA chips. Various geometric and design configurations of
DNA chips are considered. In addition to the effect of electric field
distribution on microfluidics and electrophoretic transport of charged
species, we investigate the contribution of both Ohmic and Faradic currents
to biomolecule transportation and local pH changes. Through AC impedance
tests, we verify the accuracy of the theoretical predictions of local
electrokinetic effects in microarray-based DNA chips.
