MS/PSM Programs

Program Requirements:

Advancement to Candidacy: All students must satisfy the general requirements for advancement to candidacy, and the basic requirements for the master's degree. please see the graduate division's graduate bulletin.

The student must complete a graduate program of 30 units, of which at least 15 units must be at the 600-level or above excluding 797, 798 and 799A to include:

1. Twelve units from the list of required core courses below:

3 Units
COMP589 Computational Imaging
3 Units
MATH636 Mathematical Modeling
3 Units
MATH693A Advanced Numercial Analysis
3 Units
MATH693B Advanced Numerical Analysis
3 Units

2. Six units of approved 500, 600, or 700-level courses offered by the college of sciences in discipline(s) related to the student's specialization but outside the department of mathematical and computer sciences

3. Six units of approved 500 or 600 level electives from the colleges of science or engineering

4. Six units of research including thesis, 797 and 799

Acomplete student program must be approved by the computational science program director

Thesis Project: The student must develop a thesis project with two faculty members from different departments.
