Discovery Team A key feature of the training program
is the Discovery Team where undergraduate
and graduate students tackle real-world
problems and may conduct their research
in university laboratories, biomedical
companies in the San Diego area, or in
national laboratories including Lawrence
Livermore, Lawrence Berkeley, Los Alamos
or Sandia national laboratories. Training
activities include faculty-student symposia,
a journal club, and faculty and peer mentoring.
Discovery teams consist of at least two
faculties from different departments (for
example, Biology and Mathematics or Computer
Science), two to four undergraduate students,
one or two graduate students, and a postdoctoral
associate. Students will generally pursue
their degree in Computational Science,
a relatively new degree program at SDSU.
Stipends are $20,772 for doctoral students
and $10,956 for junior/senior undergraduates.
