| ABSTRACT: |
Plants have a remarkable ability to cope with highly variable environmental stresses, including cold, drought, and soils with changing salt and nutrient concentrations (i.e. abiotic stress). Nevertheless, these stresses together represent the primary cause of crop loss worldwide, reducing average yields for most major crop plants by more than 50%. In order to understand the molecular mechanism by which plants respond to abiotic stresses, we took a global approach by profiling the plant cells following various abiotic stress treatments at transcription level. We aim to decipher the transcriptomes of the plant cells in order to understand the kinetics and dynamics of the responses. |
