Applying to the program
Deadlines:
- Applications are accepted for the Fall semester only.
- US and International Students: If you wish to be considered for FINANCIAL SUPPORT, your Graduate Admission Application as well as all general requirements for admission (see application checklist below) must be received no later than January 15.
- US and International Students: NOT requesting financial support deadline is March 15.
- Incomplete packets will not be reviewed or considered for financial support.
Application Checklist:
The Computational Statistics PhD program is formally the Joint SDSU/CGU Doctoral Program in Computational Science with Concentration in Statistics. You must send two sets of materials—one to SDSU Graduate Admissions (Item I. below) and one to the Computational Science Joint Doctoral Program (Item II below).
I. SDSU Graduate Admissions Materials:

For new SDSU students: To apply on-line, follow the instructions at the CSU Mentor site, http://www.csumentor.edu/
OR:

For International Students: Apply online through an application for graduate admission from: http://www.isc.sdsu.edu/prospective/iwant_graduate2.html. You may pay by credit card at that time or by mailing a U.S. check or international money order to the Cashier's Office.

GRE scores (only the General Test is required) Note: GRE General Test scores must be sent directly to SDSU Graduate Admissions. When requesting GRE scores, use our institution code: R4682. If you have presented the GRE general test within the past five years you do not need to retake it.

Residency form, if necessary (the form explains who must submit it)
OR:
- For continuing student, currently enrolled in a graduate program at SDSU, you need only fill out the Application for Classified Graduate Standing (CGS) form and then submit all parts of item II below except transcripts and GRE test scores. You will not be required to pay the SDSU application fee.
II. Computational Science Joint Doctoral Program Materials:

Claremont Graduate University (CGU) Application Form. PLEASE DO NOT SEND TO CGU.

One OFFICIAL set of transcripts from each post-secondary institution listed on your application form. Unofficial transcripts or copies are not accepted. Note: We require the Official set of transcripts to be sent directly to the
Computational Science Joint Doctoral Program. This is in addition to any requests you may receive from SDSU Graduate Admissions. -
Submit three Letters of Recommendation (pdf), at least one of which is from a former professor in the selected field of study.

A Statement of Purpose.
- Curriculum vitae.
- If you are interested in being considered for a teaching assistantship, please indicate such on page 3, item 23 of the JDP application.
